Baldur’s Gate 3 continues its merry way, welcoming this July 8 its eighth major patch. RPG players will be able, among other things, to enjoy a new class, that of the Bard, expected by the community. Two subclasses will be available, College of Valor and College of Knowledge. Here are the details :

• College of Valor (Combat-oriented subclass): Bards of the College of Valor gain skills that make them tough enough to fight on the front lines of battle while allowing them to support and inspire their allies.

    • They can add a +1d6 bonus to their next attack roll, skill check, or saving throw.
    • They can also choose to add a +1d6 bonus to the damage of their next weapon attack, or a +4 bonus to their Armor Class for one attack.
• college of knowledge (casting-based subclass): Bards of the college of knowledge seek to gather knowledge wherever they go, and use their eloquence and magical abilities to confuse and weaken their enemies while encouraging and inspiring their allies .
  • Signature Feature: Sharp Lyrics
    • Use your mind to distract a creature and undermine its confidence.
    • He suffers a 1d6 penalty for attack rolls, skill checks, and damage inflicted until the start of the next turn.
  • We’ve recorded 97 custom slurs for any occasion.

In addition, a new playable race, the first since the release of early access, is introduced, with the Gnome. Players will now be able to embody a Gnome and take part in new adventures. The rest of the update focuses on various improvements:

• Swarm AI:
  • Minor enemies (e.g. animals and goblins) are now grouped together in combat. These groups move and attack together, making the combat experience much faster and smoother in larger battles.
• Killcams:
  • Ranged critical hits now use combat cameras! Watching magic arrows and missiles pierce your enemies has never been so cool.
• Improved hairstyles:
  • The inhabitants of Faerûn have discovered a miracle shampoo: all hairstyles in the game have been improved, including a new rendering model for shadow effects.
  • Swipes and graying hair have also been added to the character editor.
• Brazilian Portuguese translation:
  • Baldur’s Gate 3 is now playable with Brazilian Portuguese subtitles – vamo nessa !
• Improved multiplayer stability:
  • Players with slower and less reliable internet connections should start to see a noticeable improvement in their game stability and reduced lag when playing multiplayer with their friends.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is available in early access since October 2020, and should launch its final version during the year 2023, if all goes well, as Larian Studios had indicated a few months ago.
