Baldur’s Gate 4 confirmed? There is almost no room for doubt

After the monstrous success of Baldur’s Gate 3, whose popularity is no longer in doubt, we are impatiently awaiting the announcement of a sequel and obviously, it will perhaps happen.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is the RPG that turned the video game sphere on its head in 2023. We’re still talking about the one that won the title of GOTY (Game of the Year) against titans like Tears of the Kingdom or Alan Wake 2. This is a pretty impressive feat. So obviously, we expect a sequel to be revealed in broad daylight. But for the moment, this is not the case, which is quite logical. On the other hand, that doesn’t mean that we don’t have clues pointing in this direction. And in fact, this story is starting to smell good.

Baldur’s Gate 4 announced in 2024-2025? And why not ?

We know that Larian Studios is currently working on its next game. But we do not know if it is Baldur’s Gate 4 or a new opus for the Divinity franchise. Moreover, the community itself is divided on this mysterious project. Some would like the company to move away from the D&D spirit, others would like a new Neverwinter, in short, we are in the dark. However, Hasbro, which had signed a lucrative licensing agreement with the studio for the third game in the series, obviously wants to continue collaborating with the latter.

For the moment, nothing is set in stone. That said, this could mean that the company will reiterate its partnership with Larian to develop a new game (Baldur’s Gate 4?). At least, that’s what Hasbro’s senior vice president of digital strategy and licensing seems to want. “ We’re investing aggressively in gaming, seeking the best partners in the world to work on engaging experiences on every platform, in every genre. I was hanging out with Larian Studios last night. I hope we can continue to work with them “, he explained to Game File.

We’ve also been informed that Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast (who, as a reminder, own the rights to the Dungeons & Dragons franchise) have a total of 40 games in development. Just that. Is a certain Baldur’s Gate 4 one of them? Well, we can always hope. In any case, despite the layoffs at Hasbro in 2023, the company does not intend to slow down in the creation of first-party games. Cynthia Williams, president of the gaming branch for the publisher and Wizards of the Coast, personally affirms that it has not affected the developers “dramatically”.
