Ryan Gosling is “just Ken”, but his performance in Greta Gerwig’s Barbie allowed him to earn one of the most important fees of his career.
After revealing the salary received by Margot Robbie for Barbie, of which she is also a producer, Variety has just revealed that of his on-screen partner Ryan Gosling.
The Canadian actor who did not hesitate to sing in the film would have received 12.5 million dollars to play Ken. Which corresponds to the salary of Margot Robbie who plays the title role in Greta Gerwig’s film, before the actress received the bonuses.
As the lead actress and producer of the film, Robbie received various bonuses, increasing her salary to $50 million. Variety does not specify whether Ryan Gosling also received bonuses or a percentage of theatrical admissions.
Barbie is not the feature film for which Ryan Gosling received the highest salary – it was the Netflix film The Gray Man for which he received $20 million – but it is one of his highest salaries . In comparison, the actor was paid $10 million for Blade Runner 2049, $8 million for La La Land and $6.5 million for First Man.
Biggest success of the year at the international box office with $1.42 billion in revenue, to date, Barbie could well be multi-awarded at the 96th Academy Awards since Warner Bros will offer the film in several categories including those of best actress for Margot Robbie, best supporting actor for Ryan Gosling and best direction for Greta Gerwig.
Released in theaters on July 19, Barbie is still showing. The DVD/Blu-ray release is announced for November 22.
