“Batman”: The cinema blockbusters 2022 | GALA.de

New cinema year, new film highlights! From January to December 2022 there are promising films – from “The Batman” to “Avatar 2”.

The new cinema year is dawning and if the corona pandemic in the cinema industry doesn’t suddenly hit the parade again, the next twelve months will offer great popcorn entertainment from “The Batman” in the spring to “Mission: Impossible 7” in the summer to “Avatar 2” in December.

The following selection contains the most significant launches per month. But be careful: some of the specified cinema dates for Germany are derived from the announced US release. In view of the corona situation, the start dates may also be postponed at short notice.

January:

The cinema year 2022 kicks off on January 6th with a load of new films. The starting shot is given, among other things, with “The King’s Man: The Beginning”, which, like many other films, has been postponed several times. It shows the beginnings of the secret society, which moviegoers already know thanks to the “Kingsman” films from 2014 and 2017. A week later, Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox and more have to flee from the Ghostface killer for the fifth time in “Scream”.

According to reports, Kirsten Stewart has good chances of getting a golden boy in the coming year. The film “Spencer”, in which she portrays Lady Diana, also starts in January. It will be gloomy at the end of January thanks to the comic film adaptation of “Morbius” with Oscar winner Jared Leto. In it he plays the biochemist Michael Morbius, who suffers from a rare blood disease. The cure he develops for himself turns him into a vampire being.

February:

In February, disaster fetishist Roland Emmerich reports back – and in “Moonfall”, appropriately enough, lets the moon crash into the earth. With “Death on the Nile”, another remake of a crime novel by Agatha Christie will be released after “Mord im Orient-Express”. Once again, Kenneth Branagh directed and also slipped into the lead role of master detective Hercule Poirot.

Fans of the successful video game series “Uncharted” can look forward to the film adaptation of the same name in February. Marvel star Tom Holland plays adventurer Nathan Drake in it, his mentor Sully is played by Mark Wahlberg. A true story based on “King Richard” with Will Smith. He embodies Richard Williams, the father of the famous tennis stars Venus and Serena Williams.

Overview:

March:

New year, new batman! In March, Robert Pattinson will make his grand entrance as the Dark Knight of Gotham City. He gets to do it with the villains Oswald Cobblepot aka the penguin (Colin Farrell) and Edward Nashton aka Riddler (Paul Dano). The revenge thriller “The Card Counter” by Paul Schrader and starring Oscar Isaac and Willem Dafoe will also start in March.

March also alternates between classy and vulgar. On the 17th, the second movie for the popular series “Downton Abbey”, which promises “A New Era”, will start. On the other hand, with “Jackass Forever” the bastards around Johnny Knoxville return to the screen – and with them the rough chaos.

April:

The first cinema appearance of Sega’s video game character “Sonic the Hedgehog” was a surprise success in 2020. Part two will whiz across the screen in April. The action thriller “Bullet Train” will also be fast. The film adaptation of the Japanese novel of the same name has a star cast – Brad Pitt, Lady Gaga, Sandra Bullock and Michael Shannon, to name just a few.

From a fantastic cast to “Fantastic Beasts – Dumbledore’s Secrets”: The new film chapter from the “Harry Potter” universe will once again show Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander and Jude Law as the young Albus Dumbledore. Instead of Johnny Depp, however, Mads Mikkelsen will play the villain Gellert Grindelwald. The drama “Thirteen Lives” by Ron Howard offers realism instead of magic. It tells the true story of the rescue operation in the Tham Luang Cave in 2018, in which a youth soccer team and their coach were trapped in masses of water.

Overview:

May:

A whopping dose of Marvel action delivered “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” in May. Once again, Benedict Cumberbatch as the Sorcerer Supreme has to grapple with the perils of space and time – and incidentally fight off a former friend who has defected to the other side. Reese Witherspoon sees herself confronted with completely different things as the motley lawyer Elle Woods in “Naturally Blonde – Part 3”.

Tom Cruise is now leading May back into the “Danger Zone” after more than three decades. Once again he has to save the day as US Air Force warrior Pete Mitchell in “Top Gun: Maverick”. The same applies to John Wick alias Keanu Reeves, who – with reservations – will also come back to the screen in May with his fourth campaign of revenge.

Overview:

June:

In June, thanks to “Jurassic World – A New Age”, the dinosaurs will once again awaken to new screen life. In addition to Chris Pratt, the “Jurassic Park” primates Sam Neill and Jeff Goldblum will also be there. In the meantime, the animated film “Lightyear” will tell the genesis of the astronaut character Buzz Lightyear from the “Toy Story” universe in June.

It remains family-friendly for the time being – yellow cult anchors take care of that. No, not “The Simpsons”, the “Minions” are going for the second time. Those who like more adult comedy with a pinch of romance can also make a note of the film “Shotgun Wedding” with Jennifer Lopez and Josh Duhamel in June.

Overview:

July:

In July, the Marvel demigod Thor (Chris Hemsworth) finds himself in the vortex between “Love and Thunder”. A co-star could easily steal the show in the film by Oscar winner Taika Waititi: Returning Natalie Portman will not only mime Jane Foster again, but also mutate into “Mighty Thor” through supernatural powers – with similar powers as her ex .. .

Speaking of strong as a bear: superstar Dwayne Johnson will also celebrate his comic film debut in July. He becomes the eponymous antihero in “Black Adam”, who does not, however, drive his (in) essence in the Marvel universe. “Black Adam” is part of the DC family and the supposed antagonist of superhero Shazam. Another comic newcomer to “Black Adam”: Ex-Bond Pierce Brosnan, who slips into the role of Doctor Fate.

Overview:

August:

There is a new adventure between culinary art and crime in August with “Guglhupfgeschwader”. In the film adaptation of the novel of the same name by Rita Falk, Sebastian Bezzel once again slips into the role of the weird village police officer Franz Eberhofer. It is the seventh film adaptation from the popular Eberhofer saga.

Meanwhile, the film “The Man From Toronto” is offering international stars in August. The action flick by “The Expendables 3” director Patrick Hughes brings together Woody Harrelson, Kaley Cuoco and Kevin Hart in front of the camera lens and reveals the expected tone of the flick just with the cast. The plot: In an Airbnb, a man is mistaken for a hit man …

Overview:

September:

Another German book adaptation can be seen in September. Marc-Uwe Klings cult kangaroo celebrates its screen comeback with “The Kangaroo Conspiracy”. It goes out of Berlin and on a road trip across the country. Also in the kangaroo’s travel bag: the usual cynical sayings, social criticism and situation comedy.

Will Tom Cruise finally be able to go on his seventh “Mission: Impossible” in September 2022? IMF agent Ethan Hunt should actually be on the screen in the summer of 2021, due to Corona and various problems during the shooting, the coming summer should now fix it. As with the two predecessors, Christopher McQuarrie is once again responsible as director.

Overview:

October:

Once again next October will be dominated by killer Michael Myers. With “Halloween Ends” the new trilogy finds its grand finale. And Jamie Lee Curtis as ex-babysitter Laurie Strode finally getting her peace from the mask killer? Fans of the visually impressive animated film “Spider-Man: A New Universe” will also be served a new adventure from teenager Miles Morales aka Spider-Man in October.

Michael Bully Herbig, meanwhile, dedicates himself to the real scandal surrounding “Spiegel” reporter Claas Relotius in the film “Thousand Lines”, who was not so concerned with the truth in his award-winning reports. The film is based on the book “A Thousand Lines of Lies” by Juan Moreno, with Elyas M’Barek playing the leading role.

Overview:

November:

It stays that way – comics will also determine the cinema scene in the New Year. In November, “The Flash” will fly the flag for DC. All fans of Michael Keaton’s Batman, who will celebrate his comeback in the film as the aged “Dark Knight”, are particularly excited. The Marvel blockbuster “Black Panther – Wakanda Forever” is expected with sad nostalgia. Without leading actor Chadwick Boseman, who died of cancer in 2020 at the age of only 43, King T’Challa alias Black Panther will not return out of respect for the deceased. But who can even come close to holding a candle to him?

The third “Rocky” offshoot “Creed 3” offers a completely different kind of action. Once again, Michael B. Jordan will lace up his boxing gloves as Adonis Johnson. What is new is that he is also taking over the reins as a director. According to reports, however, Sylvester Stallone will no longer play a role – the story of Rocky will be finally told after “Creed II”.

Overview:

December:

December 2022 has so far only had one film worth mentioning to offer – but what a film! It is planned that the first of several “Avatar” sequels will find their way to the cinema at the end of the coming year. Thanks to a re-release, the sci-fi epic by James Cameron fought back the title of most successful film of all time from “Avengers: Endgame”, grossing almost 2.85 billion US dollars. Can “Avatar 2”, again with Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana and Sigourney Weaver in the lead roles, top it?
