be careful, prices rise by 14% for EDF customers of this special offer

Was the latest increase in electricity prices really limited to 10% as the government promised? Not for everyone, according to 60 million consumers, who made the calculations for different profiles, EDF customers.

It was a promise from the government. The increase in electricity prices in February was not expected to exceed 10%. 60 million consumers therefore checked if this was really the case. His conclusion? The commitment is kept on average for those who opted for the base option and for the peak/off-peak hour option, but not really for those who chose the Tempo option offered by EDF.

Tempo customers experience a higher percentage increase in their bill, on average. EDF recognizes an average increase of 14%, indicates the consumer defense association. An increase mainly due to the increase in the domestic tax on final electricity consumption (TICFE, which appears under its old name, CSPE, on invoices), she details.

Electricity prices: why the price of the off-peak option will explode on February 1

In fact, the impact of this increase is stronger on the lowest prices and therefore on off-peak hours. Schematically, if we add 20 to 100, that makes an increase of 20%. If we add 20 to 20, this corresponds to a doubling, or an increase of 100%, continues the association.

500,000 customers concerned

Around 500,000 people have subscribed to the Tempo offer and are therefore affected. As a reminder, this option involves price variations according to peak hours (from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.) and off-peak hours (from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.), but also according to three categories of days, decided by EDF based on requests.
