Be careful, this basmati rice should not be eaten, it contains insects!

Published this Friday, December 15 on the official government website RappelConso, packages of basmati rice are subject to a recall procedure, due to the presence of insects inside. We’ll explain!

Rice is increasingly part of the French diet; in fact, in a decade its consumption has increased by almost 10%, or 5.3 kg per year per inhabitant. If we find this food in many French recipes such as veal or fish blanquette, it is also an integral part of other cultures such as Italian risotto or Chinese Cantonese rice. So, if you too are used to consuming it, be careful! The official government website ReminderConso has just published an alert concerning a reference to basmati rice sold in supermarkets.

If we have been consumed in recent days by the numerous cheese recalls, knowing that it is the season, between raclette, tomme, or even morbier, this Friday December 15, 2023, the site ReminderConso posted an alert for a completely different product. Indeed, imposed by prefectural decree, this basmati rice in 1 kg bags from the Comptoir du Grain brand sold in E. Leclerc supermarkets throughout France are the subject of this recall.
