Beach guide Mallorca: These are the most beautiful beaches on the Balearic island

From pine forest to snorkeling paradise: lonely, spacious, natural: these are the five most beautiful beaches in Mallorca

Away from the metropolitan areas, vacationers on Mallorca will find dreamlike and largely natural coastal strips with many almost Caribbean-looking bays. We present the five most beautiful beaches on the Germans’ favorite island.

Germany’s favorite holiday island boasts countless Caribbean-like beaches. Mallorca has so many of them that travelers can easily lose track of them. Whether for families, adventurers or those looking for peace and quiet: We present the five most beautiful beaches.

1. Playa de Muro: Spacious paradise for families with children

Playa de Muro in the north of Mallorca is the longest sandy beach in Mallorca and stretches for a full six kilometers between the towns of Puerto de Alcudia and Can Picafort. The beach paradise is particularly suitable for families, because the water falls flat on the entire beach, so that bathers have to walk very far to reach swimming depth.

Playa de Muro consists of four sectors, the first two of which are currently being developed for tourism: beach bars and water sports providers are located there.

Those who prefer it quiet should take a look at sector three in the middle of the playa. “Es Comu” can only be reached by a short walk and is not managed.

2. Cala Torta: For sporty swimmers and snorkelers

In the northeast of the island, those looking for peace and quiet will find an oasis not far from the popular holiday resort of Cala Ratjada. Torta Bay is difficult to reach and therefore not as crowded as some of its neighbors.

If you make your way through the dunes, you will find a 150 meter wide sandy beach and clear, turquoise sea. A “chiringuito”, a small beach bar, provides visitors with the essentials. Beach goers praise the fish dishes there.

Swimmers can swim their laps here unmolested, because the bay is not suitable for big water sports. The rocky underwater world there is ideal for snorkelers.

However, the bay is also known for strong currents – that’s why it is more of a tip for experienced swimmers.

3. Playa de Canyamel: Relax and splash around

Playa de Canyamel is the beach in the town of the same name, Canyamel, in the northeast of the holiday island of Mallorca. Green mountains surround the approximately 500 meter long sandy beach, which slopes gently into the water and is ideal for swimming.

The practical thing: Playa de Canyamel has a free car park near the beach as well as showers and toilets. In addition, various vendors serve food and cool cocktails there.

Bathers can also rent loungers and parasols. Or you can get a place under the trees near the water – and use the free shade of nature.

4. Playa de S’Amarador: swimming and hiking in the nature reserve

The beach of S’Amarador in the southeast of the island is in the middle of the green and yet well developed. In front of turquoise-blue to almost crystal-clear water, a beach bar and parasol rental offer their services here. There are also showers and toilets here.

Since the playa is on the edge of a nature reserve, active vacationers can also discover a lot here. A small torrent flows directly on the beach, which hikers can follow along the cliffs. Alternatively, the pine forest adjacent to the beach is ideal for more shady hikes.

5. For explorers: Playa de Formentor

Playa de Formentor has long ceased to be an insider tip. Especially in summer, some sun-seekers cavort on the beach, which is only eight meters wide. But since it is more than a kilometer long, you can hike to a quiet place.

Anyone lying on the beach of Formentor has a view of green pine forests and a mountain panorama behind them. The deep blue sea that stretches in front of the feet of the bathers looks all the more beautiful. Excursion boats offer tours there – for example to the island of “Illa de Formentor” just one kilometer away.

Nobody has to do without the other amenities either: water sports, showers, toilets and beach bars offer holidaymakers all-round catering.
