The vacation is over and everyday life begins again – the only memento that remains from the vacation is the summer tan. But at low temperatures and cloudy weather, it quickly disappears again. With a few tips and tricks, you can keep your summer complexion for as long as possible and keep your summery glow well into autumn.

Long-lasting summer tan: Here’s how!

Getting a tan doesn’t just start after the holiday – you should create the right basis for a lasting summer tan even before sunbathing. Regular peeling ensures that dead skin cells do not remain on the skin. In general, well-cared for skin tans better and more lastingly. This includes adequate moisturizing care, a balanced diet and a balanced vitamin balance. Proper sunbathing also needs to be learned: Especially at the beginning you should not expose your skin to the blazing sun for too long and keep in mind that you can also get a tan in the shade. Also – even if you want a radiant summer complexion, sunscreen is still a must!

1. The enemy of the summer tan: hot water

Few things are as enticing as a hot bath in autumnal temperatures. Unfortunately, this is not so conducive to maintaining our summer tan, as the hot water absorbs a lot of moisture from the skin and causes the skin to flake. Therefore: it is better to sit in a lukewarm shower and carefully dab the skin to dry instead of rubbing it.

2. Avoid peeling

We usually love exfoliants because they effortlessly remove dead skin cells and make our skin so soft. However, this also means that the tan is lost more quickly. Beauty products with retinol or fruit acid as an active ingredient also have a similar effect and should be avoided to maintain a summer tan.

3. Moisture inside and outside

Nevertheless, you don’t have to do without soft skin! On the contrary – a lot of creams is a must to keep the fresh summer complexion for as long as possible. Products with aloe vera in particular have a moisturizing effect and soothe dry or tense skin. However, not only the external care is important, but also the inside: if you drink a lot of water and rely on foods containing carotene such as carrots, peppers, apricots or spinach, you have a better chance of being asked for a long time: “Where did you go on vacation?” .
