Beauty trend 2021: Are we wearable Face Jewels?

1 trend, 2 opinions
Face Jewels – festival junk or high fashion?

We deal with trends non-stop, but we can’t (and don’t have to) love them all. Our editors Friederike and Ilka have different opinions when it comes to face jewels.

Even if festivals won’t be on our agenda for a long time, Face Jewels are right back in fashion right now. Too much or a stylish addition to the summer look? Even in our editorial team, there is disagreement about the new beauty trend.

Friederike: You have to learn to love her

There are few beauty trends that I find absolutely unsustainable. The face jewels are not one of them. Sure, the colored stones may be reminiscent of electronic festivals – but if you use them consciously, they can also shine in everyday life. How? I’ll tell you!

A few individual stones can easily be converted into “eyeliner” or a glittering stone in the inner corner of the eye can have a really cool effect. I advise you: give it a try before you write off the trend immediately. It’s like with so many things: too many cooks make the broth too salty. So if you overdo it, you will never learn to love the Face Jewels.

Ilka: And then came the disillusionment …

I’m pretty sure Marilyn Monroe certainly didn’t mean Face Jewels when she said “Diamonds are a girl’s best friend”. Granted, in my early 20s I was seen jumping around with rhinestones on my face at open air festivals. I felt like a boho queen back then. When I look at the pictures today, the disillusionment follows. Not every fad therefore has to be followed, and certainly not a second time.

Today I’m 30 years old and I know what suits me and what doesn’t. And when it comes to rhinestones, I now prefer to wear them on my hand or on my ears.
