For a few days, Michel Cymes is much talked about. And for good reason, since the arrival of the coronavirus in France, the 62-year-old doctor continues the interviews and is very present on television sets to talk about the epidemic. At first, he sends a message of hope to the French explaining that the virus was simply "a little more serious than the flu (…) a viral disease like we have every year." But Michel Cymes quickly attracted the wrath of viewers who blamed him for minimize the situation (and he had to do his mea-culpa). He also ended up on the front page of the magazine Paris Match, and this greatly annoyed Benjamin Castaldi.

According to him, Michel Cymes must choose sides."Either he is a doctor, and he poses himself as such, or he is a facilitator. He cannot be in between. Suddenly he is a doctor, suddenly he is a facilitator. Suddenly he gives his opinion … He gives lessons . (…) There is something that bothers me ", he explained. Then Benjamin Castaldi concluded, reassembled: "If he is a doctor, let him drop the TV and join the others."
