GDR rock star Manfred Kähler has died. He was known as the singer of the band Berluc. The musician was 71 years old.

Berluc singer Manfred Kähler is dead. His former bandmates announced this on Facebook. "We are infinitely sad, our husband passed away today. He is now in rocker heaven," it says about a black and white photo that shows the artist performing on stage. "Take care Manni. Thank you for the many great years", the GDR rock band, founded in 1974, said goodbye to their frontman from 1974 to 1988. The musician was 71 years old.

The band Berluc, whose name is derived from the cities of origin of the founding members, Berlin and Luckenwalde, Brandenburg, first attracted attention in 1978 with the song "Hallo Erde, hier ist Alpha". Many of the band's other hits such as "No Bomb" or "Bernsteinlegende" also became popular in the West. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, the band split up, and in 1993 they started their comeback.
