WASHINGTON (Reuters) – White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan is on a visit to the Middle East this week, where he will have extensive discussions with Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett on Iran’s nuclear program, said Monday a senior American representative.

Jake Sullivan, along with other US officials, is due to arrive in Israel on Tuesday. He will also travel to the West Bank to meet with Palestinian Authority President Mohammed Abbas, with whom he will discuss strengthening relations between the United States and the Palestinians, the representative told reporters on condition of anonymity.

The American delegation and Israeli representatives would discuss how they anticipate developments in the coming weeks with Iran, he added, as the resumption, at the end of November, of talks in Vienna intended to revive the he 2015 agreement on Iran’s nuclear program did not lead to a major breakthrough.

“It will be a good opportunity to discuss face to face the state of the talks, the timetable with which we are working and reiterate that we have little time,” said the representative of the administration of US President Joe. Biden.

The United States and Israel are in total agreement that Iran should not be able to develop nuclear weapons, he stressed.

Vienna talks to bring the United States and Iran back into the 2015 deal are expected to resume next week.
