Biden and Xi will meet at 1:00 p.m. GMT on Friday


WASHINGTON, March 18 (Reuters) – U.S. President Joe Biden and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping will meet at 9 a.m. CET (1300 GMT) on Friday, the White House said.

“(This meeting is being held) as part of efforts to maintain communication between the United States and the (People’s Republic of China),” a statement said.

“The two leaders will discuss the management of competition between the two countries as well as Russia’s war against Ukraine and other issues of common interest.”

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Thursday that Joe Biden would warn Xi Jinping against any Chinese support for Russia’s military offensive in Ukraine during their meeting. (Report Trevor Hunnicutt and Dan Whitcomb; French version Camille Raynaud)
