Bison Futé: 6 dates to avoid on the roads in 2022

These are dates that should be marked in black for 2022. Bison Futé has published its traffic forecasts for next year. And six dates should be remembered, to avoid hitting the road at all costs. Sunday May 29 is thus marked in black in the direction of returns throughout France, due to the long weekend of Ascension Thursday. Another day to avoid when planning a trip: July 4. The day is classified black in the direction of departures, but only in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, due to the start of the summer holidays.

According to Bison Futé, July 23 should also be particularly busy on the roads of the region, in the direction of departures. French motorists should avoid getting behind the wheel on July 30, to return from vacation, for the usual weekend of crossover between Julyists and Aoutiens. August 6 is also classified black in the direction of departures in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and on the Mediterranean arc. For the latter, it is also advisable to avoid taking the road on August 13, 2022.

September, the quietest month on the roads

In addition to these dark days planned on the main French axes, several dates are classified red, synonymous with very difficult traffic. Most are days in July and August and correspond to different dates of departure or return from vacation. Note that with only one day classified in orange in the direction of the returns, the 2nd, the month of January is one of the calmest on French roads, all the other days being classified in green. Just like the month of September, where not a single day turns orange, red or black.

The forecasts made by Bison Futé can allow the general public to choose the route or the least busy time slot in order to avoid wasting time in traffic jams or consuming less fuel. They also allow the authorities to design or adapt their traffic management strategy, plan days to mobilize the control services or even adjust the dates scheduled for work sites.
