Bitcoin integrated into Telegram: crypto payments finally accepted

The phoenix spreads its wings. The cryptocurrency project Telegram (Telegram Open Network Or YOUR) got off to a bad start in 2018. Following a violent barrage from regulators and American authorities, it even fell into the water. But fortunately, the TON Foundation took over and has been able to develop a project that is growing little by little. Today, this revived TONE makes it possible to bring the bitcoin payments (BTC) and in cryptos within Telegram messaging.

Bitcoin, USDT and Toncoin officially land on Telegram

The digital wallet, with the very unoriginal name of “Wallet”built on the TON blockchain (The Open Network) continues to develop. As reported by several crypto-media on July 13, 2023, Wallet teams have launched a solution for payment in cryptocurrency.

Specifically, Telegram merchants can now accept payments in multiple cryptocurrencies through Wallet’s services. These are thus Bitcoin, the stablecoin USDT of Tether and Toncoin (TON) which can be used as a method of payment.

“With WalletPay, merchants can now seamlessly accept crypto-asset payments within the Telegram app, with features available, such as the ability to make payments directly within chats. »

Again crypto project based in Telegram environment comes from afar (even from beyond the grave). It is therefore all the more remarkable to see such concretizations of this TON project “reloaded”. It will be noticed, however, that Wallet is a wallet custodial (hosted), which must be distinguished from a wallet non-custodial (self-hosted), like MetaMask. So, the user does not have the private keys management of its cryptos.
