Black off-road sprinter from Offtrack: An elegant and robust holiday companion

MOBILITY

The Mercedes Sprinter from Offtrack, which was converted into a motorhome, was an eye-catcher at the CMT holiday trade fair in Stuttgart. The 4×4 camper can do that.

This Friday, the CMT holiday fair comes to an end in Stuttgart. There were already surprises and highlights on display in the halls, such as an incredibly affordable campervan from Forster, a waterproof surfer mobile from Rocket Camper or the Star Van with a pull-out bedroom.

Just like the latter innovation, the Offtrack Sprinter is also based on the popular Mercedes panel van. The developer from Hamburg does not produce in large series and can therefore respond to individual customer requests.

There are no compromises with the base vehicle. The selected Sprinter 317 or 319 CDI comes with, among other things, MBUX multimedia system, parking package and multifunction steering wheel. With a 9-speed automatic transmission, all-wheel drive and 190 hp engine, the vehicle on display at the trade fair was ideally equipped for excursions away from asphalt – but the Mercedes Sprinter is only a real escape vehicle in exceptional cases.

From the outside, the off-track sprinter almost looks like a delivery van, but this impression disappears once you open the sliding side door. A noble interior design with excellent craftsmanship welcomes visitors or owners. Behind the rotating driver and passenger seats is a dinette with a fold-out table.

Behind it, the wet room follows the classic panel van design; the kitchenette is opposite. Food disappears into two refrigerator drawers, each with a capacity of 30 liters.

Since the Mercedes Sprinter is long and narrow rather than wide, like many other competitors it has a rear extension. The rear bed is a good 160 centimeters wide and almost two meters long. Nice detail: The ceiling and other elements are made of oak wood into which narrow LED strips have been embedded.

The on-board electronics also deserve attention. Like in a rolling smart home, you can keep an eye on all filling levels and functions via a large touchscreen. The on-board electronics are designed to ensure self-sufficiency for as long as possible. This is ensured, among other things, by batteries with 200 Ah. A solar system on the roof is optional.

Price and availability

The Offtrack camper shown at the CMT in Stuttgart and in the pictures costs 120,000 euros. Further configuration options and details can be found from the manufacturer. We introduce you to the latest motorhome and camping innovations on this page.
