With the action on Friday, April 19th, the aim is to raise awareness of speeding in particular, as it is considered the number one cause of accidents. The so-called Speed Week takes place in Saxony-Anhalt April 15th to 21st as well as the speed camera marathon April 19th instead of. So if you want to avoid a fine, points in Flensburg or a driver’s license being revoked, you should stick to the speed limits during the specified period.

The Ministry of the Interior of Saxony-Anhalt only names one specific control point in a press release: In Tangerhütte at Schönwalder Straße 33, near the “Wilhelm Wundt” community school, there will be a check on April 19th. Media representatives can also get an idea of the controls here from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.

One can conclude from this that the further focus of control, as in the past, will be on particularly vulnerable zones such as schools, daycare centers, retirement homes and accident hotspots. The cities of Dessau, Halle, Magdeburg and Stendal will also be the focus.
In any case, do not use speed camera apps during Speed Week. According to a court ruling last year, it is clear: their use is prohibited not only for drivers, but also for passengers. Anyone caught using such an app will face a fine of 75 euros. It is permitted to check speed cameras with your cell phone before starting your journey or during breaks. Of course, you can also keep up to date with current checkpoints via the radio.
