After 40 years of platonic relationship, ‘Sex and the City’ actor Blair Underwood has married Josie Hart.
Blair Underwood (58) is married again. As the “People” magazinereported, the actor tied the knot with his partner Josie Hart over the weekend. The two were married at a resort in the Dominican Republic. Both the newlyweds and the guests were dressed all in white.
“The first time I saw her in that dress, she looked like a princess,” Underwood told People. “The deep feelings we showed during the ceremony, the ease and fun of the reception, everything felt wonderful because it all came together,” says the actor.
The mime, known from “Sex an the City”, among other things, left nothing to chance when planning the Caribbean wedding: “I’m a Virgo and a perfectionist, so I make sure that every detail is thought of.”
After more than 40 years, friendship became love
Blair Underwood and Josie Hart have known each other for 43 years. Underwood once revealed that he’s been friends with his now-wife since he was 16. In November 2022 he got engaged to his longtime friend via Instagram public. “When a 41-year friendship gets a slap in the back and turns into romance, you stand up, pay attention, and step forward in gratitude,” he wrote at the time.
Although they sometimes lived far away from each other and rarely saw each other, they kept in touch, as Underwood said. After both separated from their respective spouses, friendship became love.
Marriage two years after divorce
Blair Underwood had been married to Desiree DaCosta since 1994. In May 2021, the two announced their divorce after 27 years. The couple have three children together, sons Paris (25) and Blake (21) and daughter Brielle (23). Josie Hart also brings children from her first marriage. Underwood speaks of a total of nine children who belong to the newly formed patchwork family.
Blair Underwood can’t believe his “beautiful love story” with his new partner. “To find and discover love in someone who’s been in my life, my family’s life, and like me in their life for so long, in a respectful, platonic way,” amazed him.
