Blair Witch: Bloober Team preferred this license to Saw

Bloober Team has made a name for itself among horror game enthusiasts with the Layers of Fearbut also with Observe. And after these titles, he developed Blair Witch, an ever-horrifying title inspired by movies in found footage and edited by Lionsgate Games. But he could have chosen another license.

Piotr Babieno, CEO of Bloober Teamrecently spoke with IGNand he returned to the design of this game Blair Witchthanks to the artist agency United Talent Agency who put him in touch with lionsgate, distributor of numerous films. Piotr Babieno thus declares:

I was working with our good partner, United Talent Agency. We met many people from the Hollywood industry. UTA is very recognizable and has good relations with all major film studios. We spoke with several studios, and some of them came up to us and said, “Okay, guys, you’re focused on horror and we’d love to work with you.” But the owners of the licenses were very direct: “We would like to do this story. We would like to have the game in 2021 [pour coïncider avec le lancement de notre film] “, And so on. We said, “Okay, that’s not what we want to do.”

Lionsgate came to us and said, “Guys, we love Layers of Fear. We’ve seen what you’re doing with Observer, so we’d love to work with you. We know you’d love to make your own games, so here’s our list of horror licenses; choose one. » We could have chosen Saw, which is more popular than Blair Witch, but we decided to take Blair Witch, because the universe has many opportunities to build something new. This is the reason why we chose this project.

Interestingly enough, Piotr Babieno explains that choosing Blair Witch did not close any door to him, and other companies are still approaching Bloober Team in addition to lionsgate to develop horrifying adaptations. But the Polish studio is currently focused on several projects. One of them is in partnership with Konamiand rumors suggest that it will be a remake of Silent Hill 2. Regarding Sawwell, a new video game adaptation by Bloober Team is still possible, in the distant future. The franchise has already been entitled to two titles developed by Zombie Studios and edited by Konami, which are far from having marked the players. You can find the game Blair Witch to €29.99 on GOG.com.
