Surveillance cameras primarily rely on a regular camera sensor to produce images in good lighting conditions. At night, where there is less natural lighting for the area, they have to resort to other methods – such as an IR camera. This is also the case with cameras from Amazon’s own brand Blink. This is how you fix problems with blinking night vision
First, you should define the nature of your problems with night vision with Blink cameras. If the function doesn’t work at all for you – that is, when night vision is active, only a black image is output or an error message appears – then this strongly indicates a hardware defect. Contact Amazon customer service, who may be able to send you a replacement device.
If night vision generally works for you, but the image is very blurry, distorted or blinding, there may be other reasons. Here you should first check whether you have removed the protective film from your camera lens. In daylight it may not be a problem, but in night vision it could scatter the small amounts of light that are still present and blind your vision.
It is also possible that the image from night vision is blurry if there are strong point sources of light in the field of view of your Blink camera. This could, for example, be lights from the opposite house entrance or laser pointers. Due to the high light sensitivity of the IR camera, this could result in a blurred image. If necessary, check the IR sensitivity setting in the Blink camera and try out different settings to see what works best in your environment.
