While it was supposed to be one of the highlights ofOverwatch 2Hero PvE mode (PVE Hero mode in English) of the FPS of Blizzard has been cancelled. It was during a live announcement (source in English) that Aaron Keller (Game Director) and Jared Neuss (Executive Producer) confirmed the information, explaining that the PvE mode unveiled in 2019 was taking too long to develop.
Blizzard ends PvE mode
Presented for the first time at the BlizzCon 2019, the PvE mode of the FPS was announced as a very complete game mode. It must be said that Blizzard seemed to be preparing a game in its game with a talent tree on Heroes, different modes and maps as well as unique features. However, nearly four years later, the studio put an end to the development of this concept by evoking a project that was too long and resource-intensive.
Unfortunately, the efforts required to offer you a quality experience as we understand it at Blizzard are enormous and it seems impossible to us to put a date on an online publication of this work.

Studio officials have also confirmed that all the elements mentioned around the concept of the PvE Hero mode (including the talent tree) are therefore abandoned and should not see the light of day on Overwatch 2.
The end of PvE mode on Overwatch 2?
Although quite a few press releases mention the end of the PvE mode on Overwatch 2, this is actually incorrect. Indeed, Blizzard made a point of specifying that the solo content and the Missions related to the history of the various Heroes will be maintained.
(..) we’re working on some of what the team originally set out to do, but not all of what we showed at BlizzCon 2019. So our efforts are focused on character-based quests rather than the more open-ended hero-related mode.

Players should therefore be reassured since we will have access to PvE content on OW2, but the experience will be far from that promised during the initial presentation of the game in 2019.
Blizzard has confirmed that the development of the PVE Hero mode has therefore been canceled on Overwatch 2. However, the PvE aspect will continue to be developed, but on a smaller scale on the FPS.
