The “anti-Twitter” application, Bluesky, is making waves again at the end of the year, with a new logo, and (a little) more openness.
Formerly an initiative of Twitter, the Bluesky project finally gained its independence, under the supervision of a certain Jack Dorsey (founder of Twitter). For several months, the social network has been accessible, but only in the form of an invitation from a member already active on the platform. Quickly, the Bluesky application positioned itself as “the anti-Twitter”.
Bluesky: publications open to the public
Still and always reserved for a very closed circle of users, the Bluesky application is however opening up a little more to the public today. Indeed, if it is still not possible to register without having benefited from a prior invitation, the network’s publications are now visible to everyone, from the web version of the service, as well as from the mobile application.
Note that those who wish to prevent people who are not connected from seeing their messages can do so by activating a dedicated option in the settings.
But why a butterfly exactly?
For a few days, the Bluesky application has also sported a brand new logo. The application is now symbolized by a blue butterfly on a white background. While many people appreciate this new logo (which is reminiscent of another), many are also wondering the why and how of a butterfly.
“ It is a symbol of change and transformation. Early on, we noticed people were using the butterfly emoji to indicate their Bluesky profiles. We loved it, and so we decided to adopt it too. “, explains Bluesky manager Jay Graber.
Also, like a butterfly emerging from its chrysalis, the Bluesky application continues to gradually emancipate itself, starting with the possibility of viewing public posts. “ We are unfolding little by little and we are delighted to accompany you on this journey of metamorphosis! “, we explain at Bluesky.
