BMW unveils the new flagship of its all-electric range, the iX M60


The combination of these three letters “i” “X” and “M” foreshadows an explosive result in the BMW range. Just unveiled at CES in Las Vegas, the BMW iX M60 is the new flagship of the 100% electric range of the German manufacturer.

The new flagship of BMW’s 100% electric range has just been unveiled at CES. The BMW iX M60 comes to supplant the BMW iX xDrive50 as the top of the range electric models from the manufacturer. It is resolutely focused on sportiness and driving pleasure. The model is also the new technological flagship of the electric range currently being developed by the German manufacturer.

According to the manufacturer, this BMW iX M60 was designed without compromise. It must meet the challenges of zero-emission mobility, with a design appreciated by customers, while offering maximum driving pleasure, with performance worthy of the brand’s M emblem.

A model focused on driving sensations

While Mercedes is betting everything on autonomy and efficiency with its EQXX concept, BMW has decided to focus on the performance of its new model signed with the M badge.

The BMW iX M60 is equipped with two electric motors of 5e generation with a combined power of 455 kW (or 613 hp), and above all a torque peaking at more than 1000 Nm (up to 1100 Nm with Launch Control mode). It achieves 0 to 100 km in 3.8 seconds and is restricted to the maximum speed of 250 km / h.

It is a real model designed and developed by the M branch (Motorsport) of BMW. The dynamic character of the vehicle is at the rendezvous with chassis settings and suspensions adapted to this model.

In terms of consumption and range, the BMW iX M60 is equipped with a large 111.5 kWh battery which should enable the range of 566 km WLTP to be reached with consumption between 21.7 and 24.7 kWh / 100 km. It will accept direct current fast charging up to 200 kW.

New equipment introduced

A new generation of iDrive will appear on the iX M60 to make the use of the on-board system more intuitive. The driver will always have the voice assistant to simplify access to certain commands.

The BMW iX M60 will be one of the first to offer 5G connectivity. The vehicle will be able to receive “over the air” updates through this. New sensors and software allow the BMW iX M60 to offer more efficient driving aids with level 2 autonomous driving and advanced parking aids. Autonomous driving level 3 should be available in the medium term.

The model will also benefit from the new sound signature signed Hans Zimmer to accompany driving depending on the mode engaged. Everything is combined with a comfortable, quiet and modern interior. What offers a high-ranking driving experience that should satisfy the high net worth customers targeted by this model.

The BMW iX M60 will arrive in dealerships from June 2022, prices have not yet been communicated, but the price may be particularly steep since the iX xdrive50 already starts at € 123,000.
