(Reuters) – Brazil’s far-right former president Jair Bolsonaro said in an interview with the Wall Street Journal published on Tuesday that he plans to return to Brazil in March with the aim of becoming the leader of opposition to current left-wing president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.

Jair Bolsonaro has also said he intends to defend himself against accusations that he orchestrated the riots that took place in early January, when hundreds of his supporters invaded and ransacked places of power in the capital Brasilia to contest Lula’s electoral victory.

Having left for Florida two days before Lula’s inauguration ceremony on January 1, Jair Bolsonaro has since applied for a six-month tourist visa in the United States.
