The Christmas holidays are finally an opportunity to take care of the vaccination. But: Not all vaccination centers in Central Switzerland are open between Christmas and New Year. While you can spontaneously get on the vaccination ship in Lucerne, you have to register in Uri. But don’t worry, we’ve summarized everything you need to know here.

In Lucerne you can be vaccinated spontaneously on the vaccination ship or with advance notice at the vaccination centers.
Nidwalden is closed on December 24th and 31st, but offers an additional vaccination window on December 29th.
In Glarus, people are encouraged to register for the vaccination as quickly as possible. Appointments are still available over the holidays.
The holidays are just around the corner. While some are celebrating with their families, others want to get a booster vaccination against Covid-19 as quickly as possible. But the vaccination centers are not always open over the holidays. The vaccination centers of the Lucerne Cantonal Hospital, for example, take a vaccination break over Christmas and New Year. LU: Spontaneously on the vaccination ship, with advance notice at the vaccination centers
If you want to be vaccinated spontaneously over the festive season in the canton of Lucerne, you can do so on the vaccination ship. Vaccinations are possible on the landing stage at Europaplatz on December 26th and 31st from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and from December 27 to December 30 between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. Otherwise, those wishing to be vaccinated in the canton of Lucerne can be vaccinated in one of the cantonal vaccination centers in the Lucerne Exhibition Center, in Willisau or in Hochdorf by prior arrangement. These are open from December 27th to December 30th and again from January 3rd. The decentralized vaccination sites in the canton will remain closed, as will the vaccination centers of the Lucerne Cantonal Hospital.
NW: Special opening times over the festive season
The canton of Nidwalden offers vaccinations in the old armory in Oberdorf over the festive period. It will open on December 28th and 29th. The booster vaccination takes place by appointment, otherwise walk-in vaccinations are also offered. As of January 10, significantly more appointments for booster vaccinations should also be offered, as the canton of Nidwalden announced. A request from the canton for army support was approved.
ZG: Only closed on Christmas and New Years
Zug residents can get vaccinated at the vaccination center in Baar. This is only closed on December 25th and January 1st during the holidays. On December 24th and 31st you can get vaccinated in Baar between 7:10 am and 1:00 pm, and on December 26th and January 2nd between 2:00 pm and 6:00 pm. Otherwise, the normal opening times of the vaccination center apply. First vaccinations are possible without registration; Advance registration is required for booster vaccinations.
UR: In the hospital, vaccinations are also carried out over the holidays
In the canton of Uri, all people aged 16 and over who received their second vaccination at least four months ago are eligible for the booster vaccination. During the festive season, you can get boosted in the Uri Cantonal Hospital. “In the canton hospital vaccinations are also carried out between Christmas and New Years”, said health director Christian Arnold in a press release. You can register online or call 041 875 50 70. You can also get boosted spontaneously in the Altdorf arsenal until the evening of December 23rd.
GL: Dates still available over the festive period
In Glarus, people are encouraged to register for the booster vaccination as soon as possible. This could make a significant contribution to reducing virus circulation and prevent further stress on hospitals. According to a press release, vaccination appointments are still available for the time being and over the holidays.
SZ & OW: Obwalden is open almost every day
The vaccination center in Obwalden is open every day, except on December 24th, 25th and 26th, as the canton will announce upon request. In the canton of Schwyz, vaccinations are used in hospitals. Schwyz Hospital vaccinates between December 27th and 30th. Laughing you can get vaccinated again from December 27th to 30th and then from January 3rd. The vaccination center in Einsiedeln Hospital is closed on December 24th, 25th, 26th and 31st. Otherwise, the vaccination is from Monday to Friday from 7.30 a.m. to 7.30 p.m. But only by appointment.
