Bouygues Telecom innovates with a scalable mobile plan for the youngest

How to accompany your child during his debut with a smartphone? A question that many parents must have asked themselves, and to which Bouygues Telecom is providing an answer this fall with a brand new package tailored for the youngest.

According to a study conducted in 2020 by Médiamétrie on behalf of UNAF (National Union of Family Associations) and OPEN (Observatory of Parenthood and Digital Education), French children receive their first smartphone at age nine. and nine months. Also according to this study, nearly 65% of young people aged 11 to 14 have their own smartphone, often at the initiative of their parents.

Whatever the reason given (empowering your child, occupying him, being able to communicate easily with him), offering a smartphone to his offspring is now an act that could not be more common. However, this does not prevent you from taking a few precautions to guide your child during his first months of use.

It is with this in mind that Bouygues Telecom has just unveiled a brand new package. A fixed package, offered at a low price, and which evolves according to the needs and uses of the child, all under the supervision of the parents.

The Bouygues Telecom scalable plan in brief:

  • unlimited calls, SMS and MMS in mainland France;
  • 1 to 20 GB of data usable in metropolitan France and in the EU, the overseas departments and Andorra;
  • fixed plan with one-year commitment;
  • single rate at 8.99 euros per month or 6.99 euros for Bbox customers.

A progressive level system to gain autonomy

At the heart of this package designed by Bouygues Telecom to introduce the youngest to mobile telephony and digital technology is a system of levels, three in total, which allow it to gain autonomy over the months:

  • upon subscription: the package offers 2 hours of calls as well as unlimited SMS and MMS in France, and a 1 GB data package;
  • after six months: calls become unlimited and the data envelope increases to 10 GB;
  • after one year: the package reaches its final form and offers unlimited calls, SMS and MMS in mainland France, while the data envelope increases to 20 GB.

Of course, this evolution is entirely under your control. You decide everything and if you want to wait more than six months or a year to change the level, it is not a problem. However, it should be noted that the transition to a higher level is irreversible.

A controlled invoice in all circumstances

The risk when you entrust a smartphone and a mobile subscription to a teenager is to end up with surprises, often bad, when paying the bill. Between microtransactions on mobile games and overspending, there are many risks of inflating the bill. With this package, inconveniences of this kind are impossible.

To begin with, this package is a blocked package. Understand by this that once the quota of hours of communication or the envelope of data exhausted, the package is blocked. No chance therefore of accumulating the euros of non-packages.

Then, it is a package with a fixed and unique price. The price will not change over the course of the subscription, whether during the change of level or after a certain period. Bouygues Telecom offers you this package at 8.99 euros per month (6.99 euros for Bbox customers) and you will pay this amount each month as long as your subscription lasts.

A package that remains under your control at all times

If this plan is intended to be used by your child on a daily basis, it is still you who remain in control. From your customer account, you can very simply:

  • monitor your child’s consumption (communication and data) in real time, and view your bills;
  • lead level changes;
  • activate or deactivate the parental control option (to limit access to certain sites, or even apps for the premium version);

The customer account also provides access to a blocking option. Activated by default, it prevents your child from accessing communications from abroad, even if this is provided for by the plan. It is however possible to lift this blocking if you go on a trip abroad, or in the event of a school trip for example.

A selection of smartphones at the best price

Because a mobile plan without a mobile is not very useful, Bouygues Telecom offers you a selection of smartphones to accompany its scalable plan. Like a classic operator offer, subscribing to this package allows you to obtain discounts on many models from the catalogs of the biggest manufacturers.

You can thus discover many one-euro phones, such as the Xiaomi Redmi Note 12, the Samsung Galaxy A04s or the Honor 70 Lite. More expensive models are also available to you, and it’s up to you to decide what budget to allocate to your offspring’s first smartphone.

A little more significant, this scalable package benefits from some advantages related to the use of the smartphone. Among other things, you can benefit from the (free) loan of a terminal in the event of theft or breakdown, and a 30% reduction on repair costs at WeFix.
