Bouygues Telecom launches a new Bbox Fiber to enrich its fiber customer base


Bouygues Telecom is adopting Wi-Fi 6 with its new Bbox Fibre, now available to all new subscribers subscribing to its Bbox Ultym fiber offer. Newcomers will thus be able to benefit from this box enriched with new features, as well as a new decoder offering better 4K HDR image quality and sound quality compatible with Dolby Digital.

This new “Bbox 4K HDR benefits from the integrated Chromecast, the TV recorder which offers a recording capacity of 100 hours directly in the cloud to have its content anywhere and at any time, or even the Google Play Store to benefit from hundreds of applications optimized for TV”, argues the operator.

The new box will be marketed by the operator through subscription to its Bbox ultym Fiber offers, marketed at 28.99 euros per month, or Bbox ultym SMART TV, at 46.99 euros per month. In particular, it will be equipped with a color screen making it possible to view the time, the program in progress, the recording of the channel, or even the notification of the scheduled recording directly on the decoder.

It will further include a voice-activated infrared Bluetooth remote control (compatible with Google’s voice assistant) for easy access to TV programs and services, as well as a built-in Chromecast, a TV recorder with recording capability. 100 hours on the cloud.

Strengthen the fiber customer base

Note that people subscribing to this new offer will be offered a free six-month subscription (then 6.99 euros per month) to the Salto video-on-demand platform, for three simultaneous users. “The Bbox ultym Fiber offer also includes turnkey equipment installation, Wi-Fi diagnostics and up to two repeaters included, unlimited calls to landlines and mobiles in France/Europe/Switzerland and to landlines from more than 110 countries,” boasts the operator.

It now remains to be seen whether the launch of this new offer will allow Bouygues Telecom to continue to garner new subscribers to its fiber offers, the number of which has already grown significantly in recent months. Bouygues Telecom had 4.4 million fixed customers at the end of 2021, a growing base of 278,000 customers over the year as a whole. Of this workforce, the operator figures the number of subscribers to FttH offers at 2.3 million, up by 718,000 new customers over the year.

The operator will be able to count in particular on the generalization of its fixed accesses: this figured at 24.3 million the number of FttH sockets marketed at the end of 2021 and targets 27 million sockets installed at the end of 2022 (and 35 million at the end of 2026), in the framework of its Ambition 2026 strategic plan.

As a reminder, the 2021 financial year of the Bouygues group operator was marked by a positive “commercial dynamic”. The latter recorded a turnover of 7.3 billion euros last year, up 13% over one year. Better still, the main indicator of the operator’s profitability, in this case its EbitdaaL, amounted to 1.6 billion euros, up 7% over one year.
