After two months of unchallenged dominance, Avatar 2 ceded its place as box office leader to Asterix and Obelix. L’Empire du Milieu brought together 1.88 million spectators, the 20th best start of all time for a French film.

However, the comedy starts less well than Mission Cleopatra (3,685,097), Asterix at the Olympic Games (3,007,811) and Asterix and Obelix against Caesar (2,718,443). However, it is ahead of In the Service of Her Majesty and its 1,132,279 admissions in 2012.

For its part, La Voie de l’eau continues to overwhelm France, passing the milestone of 13 million admissions. James Cameron’s film remains ahead of Avatar by 376,000 admissions at the same stage of its release in 2009.

In 3rd position, Babylon works rather well in France; the feature film with Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie crosses the million admissions mark. He is ahead of the new M. Night Shyamalan, Knock at the Cabin, which has just over 109,000 fans. The filmmaker does a little better than the start of Old in 2021 (105,000 admissions).

In the middle of the table, the animated film Pattie and the Wrath of Poseidon is holding up well, as is the action film Mayday with Gerard Butler.

At the bottom of the ranking, Vanquish or die attracts more than 73,000 new curious people, accumulating just over 200,000 tickets sold. Tom Hanks closes the march by making a timid start with The Worst Neighbor in the World, which claims 67,470 torn tickets.
