bp: invests in the Florida start-up Freebee


(CercleFinance.com) – bp announced on Wednesday that it had signed a six million dollar investment in Freebee, a mobility specialist based in Miami.

In a press release, the energy group explains that Freebee offers free public transport services through its electric shuttles, which connect university campuses, hotels, beaches and other tourist attractions.

The use of its services, via the Ride Freebee mobile application, is free of charge, as it is subsidized by local authorities.

bp’s investment, made through its growth capital subsidiary bp ventures, is part of Freebee’s latest eight million dollar funding round, to which the anchor investor of company, Tensile Mobility.

These funds should enable the company to expand beyond the state of Florida.
