After starring opposite each other in “American Bluff”, Christian Bale and Bradley Cooper will meet again in “Best Of Enemies”, a spy thriller.
Eight studios were competing for Bradley Cooper and Christiane Bale’s next film, Best of Enemies. It was ultimately Amazon who won the auction with a seven-figure offer. As stated Deadlinethis is one of the most expensive contracts of the year 2023.
This project, adapted from the book Best of Enemies: The Last Great Spy Story of the Cold War by Eric Dezenhall and Gus Russo, tells the story of a CIA agent, Jack Platt – played by Bradley Cooper – and a KGB agent, Gennady Vasilenko, – played by Christian Bale.
While sent on a mission, the two men develop a friendship that will extend beyond their countries’ conflicts.
The two actors already shared the screen in 2014 in American Bluff by David O. Russell. If no director has yet been announced for Best of Enemies, screenwriter Eric Warren Singer (Top Gun: Maverick) is responsible for writing the script for the film intended for theatrical release.
Currently, Bradley Cooper’s name is making the rounds at award ceremonies thanks to Maestro, a biopic he directed and in which he plays the composer Leonard Bernstein. The film is expected on Netflix on December 20.
As for Christian Bale, he is announced in The Church of Living Dangerously, a thriller in which he will play an American pastor involved in a drug cartel.
