Hollywood star Bradley Cooper was just about to pick up his daughter from school when he was attacked with a knife in a New York subway.

Actor Bradley Cooper, 46, usually loves his New York City life. After separating from Irina Shayk, 35, the single father lovingly takes care of their daughter Lea Shayk Cooper, 4, and even picks her up from school when the Russian model has no time or is traveling. But once the usual trip to school turned into a life-threatening event.

Bradley Cooper: “Suddenly someone holds out a knife to me”

In a podcast with Dax Shephard, 46, the Hollywood star revealed on Monday, November 29, 2021 that he was attacked and threatened with a knife by a stranger on the New York subway two years ago. Cooper recalls wearing headphones, sunglasses, and a hat that day to avoid being recognized as a celebrity actor when he simply wanted to pick up his daughter from school. “It was pretty crazy. I was walking around New York City with headphones on and hardly noticed anything around me. I remember taking the subway to pick Lea up from the Russian school downtown. Suddenly someone held out a knife to me, “recalls Cooper.

Bradley Cooper: “I felt way too safe”

“I realized that I had felt safe in New York for far, far too long. My alarm signals weren’t on the go,” continues Cooper. The actor says that he was sitting in the back of the subway when a strange man approached him. At first he thought it was a fan who wanted to ask for a selfie: “I look down and suddenly see a knife. I still thought: ‘This is a nice knife’. I had my headphones on the whole time, so I could I don’t hear anything – except my music. I looked up, saw his eyes and just thought: ‘Wow, how young he is’. “

Although he was taught never to run if someone approaches with a gun, the “Hangover” star instinctively jumped off the subway at the next stop, jumped over the turnstile, and ran to the exit of the station. “I hid, took out my cell phone and took a picture of the man trying to run away as well.” In front of the subway station, Cooper stopped two police officers to report the crime and show them the photos. “Then I got back on the subway and picked up my daughter. It was crazy.”
