Brand saver leaked! – The first complete images of the Lancia Ypsilon

Apparently Lancia can’t be killed. Although recently only an outdated small car was sold and only in Italy, the car world hopes longingly – and hopelessly romantically – that the brand will be resurrected in a shiny new way. Like drops of water for those dying of thirst, there are leaked photos of the upcoming Lancia Ypsilon, which will not be presented until February.

It can’t be entirely unintentional that the pictures of the little electric car are now making the rounds on social media. Lancia needs maximum attention so that the Phoenix-from-the-Ashes effect doesn’t fizzle out. In any case, a photo/video shoot took place in Milan, in the middle of the city, where of course thousands of people are out and about, none of them without a smartphone. What we see is a much sleeker, more emotional car than the discontinued model that so bravely flies the flag the Italian held up. The rear, with its round lights, is reminiscent of the Alfa Romeo Mito, but is primarily based on the Pu+Ra HPE study. The huge Lancia lettering in between also suggests the increased need for attention. The front definitely takes some getting used to. An attached plastic clasp carries the brand lettering in front, underlined almost across the entire width by an interrupted LED light strip, which represents a stylized Y with a short, vertical offshoot. The headlights, placed low and extremely to the side, complete the front view with a somewhat strange face. But the Ypsilon is not the first Lancia with an extravagant face. The meaning and/or function of the four rectangles with rounded corners in the bumper may become clear at a second glance, who knows. A plastic clip can also be found at the rear, which is probably the best side of the new Ypsilon. The side view is also sleek, with muscular fenders and hidden rear door handles that give it a three-door feeling. In the interior, a round element on the center console stands out reminiscent of the round slide magazines that were used for photo shows. Above it, the driver looks at two displays – a speedometer display and a central touchscreen. The Ypsilon shares the CMP architecture with, among other things, its Stellantis brother, the Opel Corsa, with which it rolls off the assembly line at the Opel plant in Figuelas, Spain. Accordingly, it will probably also have its drives: electric motors with 100 kW/136 HP or 115 kW/156 HP, which promise a range of up to 405 kilometers with the 50 kW battery. Three petrol engines and two hybrids are also available for the Corsa. Pictures of the Lancia Ypsilon have already circulated before, but definitely unintentionally: a test car had driven into the ditch and was rescued by crane.
