Brandt will launch its range of refrigerators with a vintage look

In the world of large household appliances, there is ultimately little aesthetic risk-taking. But refrigerators inspired by the 50s, 60s or 70s have an undeniable popularity. Smeg was one of the pioneers of this trend with its FAB28, FAB50 and other FAB models, but many other manufacturers have since stepped into the breach. It’s Brandt’s turn to market a series of retro appliances that are characterized by their soft curves, large chrome handles and distinctive colors (black, cream and red).

The BVL7260SR, with a total capacity of 315 liters, is the single-door refrigerator of the range, all representatives of which use the so-called No Frost cold system, completely devoid of humidity. Thanks to this technology, no frost barrier forms in the freezer (31 l): it will therefore not be necessary to defrost to maintain efficiency and extend the life of the appliance. Indeed, paradoxically, a layer of ice insulates the cold circuit which is therefore more stressed to maintain a stable temperature, which increases electricity consumption. In addition, the various elements wear out more quickly. To avoid the phenomenon of drying out of fresh food caused by the No Frost cold (the syndrome of the slice of ham kept out of its box), the BVL7260SR is equipped with a vegetable drawer in the bottom of the 274 l refrigerator.

Note that Brandt promises to have improved this No Frost cold and is now talking about Fast No Frost, a system that quickly lowers the temperature in the different compartments for food preservation three times longer, according to the manufacturer.

Except for the No Frost system, the BVL7260SR is relatively unsophisticated. A tribute to the 60s and 70s? Still, the electronic controls give way to a simple mechanical wheel in the positive cold zone. Exit also the 0°C drawer in which fragile foods can be stored without freezing them.

The BVD7060NV is also a very simple refrigerator. The cold system is the same (Fast No Frost) and the big difference lies in the layout, since we are facing a multi-door, with the 71 l freezer placed above the 239 l refrigeration compartment.

Finally, the range also includes the BVC8661NR, a 330 l handset. The volume of the freezer reaches 100 l and that of the refrigerator 230 l.

All these models will be available from May in red, black or cream at a single price: €899.
