Brian Epstein: A biopic is dedicated to the Beatles manager

The "fifth Beatle", band manager Brian Epstein, is to build a film memorial in the form of the biopic "Midas Man".

It is not only the work of the four Beatles John Lennon (1940-1980), George Harrison (1943-2001), Paul McCartney (78) and Ringo Starr (79) that holds exciting, interesting and tragic stories to be told. This also applies to the much too short life of its former discoverer and manager Brian Epstein (1934-1967). The film industry apparently sees it that way too – under the title "Midas Man", a biopic about the sponsor of "Fab Four" is in the works, reports the US website "Variety".

According to this, the Swede Jonas Akerlund (54, "Lords of Chaos") has already been hired, who, as a music video and cinema director, knows very well how the two media of music and film are brought together. "Midas Man" is supposed to tell an "emotional, witty, heartfelt story about the joy of success", and on the other hand illuminate the "terrifying pressure of an indescribable venture". "I want to bring him back to life," said Akerlund about the aim of the film project.

His trust made her famous

Epstein had discovered the four Liverpoolers – at that time with Peter Best (78) on drums – in the Cavern Club and got them a record deal. Paul McCartney once called him the "fifth Beatle", which shows the immense appreciation that the manager enjoyed from his protégés.

In August 1967, Epstein was only 32 years old, he was found lifeless in his apartment. The cause of death was found to be a high dose of bromide in the blood, which was attributed to years of sleeping pill use. In addition to the Beatles, he also promoted stars like Jimi Hendrix (1942-1970) or bands like The Who and Pink Floyd.
