Bridge near Anthering – The Salzach footbridge to Bavaria is getting more expensive

Between Anthering and the Bavarian Saaldorf-Surheim a Salzach bridge for cyclists and pedestrians has been planned for some time. The planning continues to advance. In addition to the enormous costs, there are other hurdles that have to be cleared before the bridge can be built.

A cross-border Salzach bridge for pedestrians and cyclists will connect Bavaria and Anthering in the future. The planning of the two communities Anthering and Saaldorf-Surheim (Bavaria) has already been completed. The jetty is to be 140 meters long and cost 4.5 million euros. “Actually, we expected 3 million euros, but the price has skyrocketed due to the higher material costs,” says the Mayor of Antering, Johann Mühlbacher (ÖVP). In the next step, the municipality submits the project for the new bridge to the authorities. Building and water law permits are required. If everything goes well, the jetty could be in place in 2024.
