Netflix had a hit with "Bridgerton". The streaming service expects that 63 million households will soon have seen the series.
Netflix is currently celebrating a mega hit with the series "Bridgerton". As the streaming service announced to the US magazine "Variety", 68 million households will soon have seen the series. That would make the show by "Grey's Anatomy" creator Shonda Rhimes (50) one of the most successful Netflix series of all time.
Only "The Witcher" (around 76 million streams), the fourth season of "House of Money" (around 65 million streams) and the documentary series "Big cats and their predators" (original title: "Tiger King", around 64 million) were more successful Streams) from the past year. In addition, "Bridgerton" is # 1 most viewed content on Netflix in 76 countries.
This is what "Bridgerton" is about
Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor), the eldest daughter of the influential Bridgerton family, makes her debut in the hotly contested marriage market in Regency-era London. When the search for a suitable husband does not really work out, Daphne wants to attract the interest of men and makes a pact with the rebellious Duke of Hastings (Regé-Jean Page), who wants to end the rumors about his relationship status : They pretend to be in love with each other.
But appearance soon becomes a real romance. Their confusion of love and also the other relationships, scandals or misconduct of high society are scrutinized by one person: Lady Whistledown (voice of Julie Andrews), who spreads the city's gossip stories with her scandalous society journal.

The enormous success of the series seems to have helped Netflix to two more records: The streaming giant also announced that never before had so many viewers streamed as in December 2020. In the period between December 25 and 31, Netflix even achieved an annual record. "Bridgerton" appeared on the streaming portal on December 25th.
