When the popular series "Bridgerton" returns with its second season, actress Simone Ashley will play a leading role.

The Netflix series "Bridgerton" has blossomed into a phenomenon within a very short time and cast a spell over millions of subscribers to the streaming service. This was mainly due to the TV couple Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor, 25) and Simon Basset, the Duke of Hastings (Regé-Jean Page, 31). But like the original book, the second season of the series also puts other people in the foreground. One of them will be a woman named Kate Sharma – according to the US site "People" it is now clear that actress Simone Ashley (25) has landed this female lead.

The new episodes of "Bridgerton" will mainly focus on Daphne's eldest brother Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey, 32). And in the novel by author Julia Quinn (51) he falls immortally in the said Kate. In the book "How do you charm a Viscount?" the character still carried the surname Sheffield, but in the TV version the New Londoner will have Indian roots and the surname Sharma. According to People, her character is described as a "smart, strong-willed young woman who doesn't tolerate anything stupid – including Anthony Bridgerton's."

From "Pokémon" to "Bridgerton"

Simone Ashley is still quite a blank slate in the TV industry. In 2016 she was briefly seen for the first time in a series called "Wolfblood", and in 2019 she played a role in the film "Pokémon: Detective Pikachu" and the series "Sex Education".

As long as the situation allows, the new episodes of "Bridgerton" will be released in London this spring. Publication is therefore realistic at the end of 2021 or beginning of 2022 at the earliest.
