“Bridgerton” fans are still looking forward to season 2 on Netflix and seasons 3 and 4 of the hit series have fortunately also been confirmed. Now there’s more good news: The unofficial musical for the Netflix series has received the Grammy for the best musical album.

What began as an escape from a difficult year soon turned Emily Bear and Abigail Barlow into a viral sensation on TikTok: “Daphne’s Song” has racked up more than 2.3 million views, while its follow-up, “Burn for You,” has racked up more than 5.3 has been viewed millions of times. A music video and the album followed.

Bear and Barlow beat Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Cinderella”, the cast recording of “Girl from the North Country”, “Les Misérables: The Staged Concert” and “Stephen Schwartz’s Snapshots”.

In her speech, Barlow thanked the Internet. She said: “When I asked the internet a year ago, ‘What if ‘Bridgerton’ was a musical?’ I couldn’t have imagined that we would one day hold a Grammy in our hands. We want to say thank you to everyone on the internet who has been with us from the beginning of the making of this album and we’re sharing that with you.”

As the two composers continue to fight for visibility and equality, Bear took a moment to acknowledge the significance of her victory in her acceptance speech: “This is truly for all my fellow female producers, composers and engineers who still need recognition and… Support for what we are fighting for. It’s not that we don’t exist, we do.”
