The future corona vaccine from the pharmaceutical companies Sanofi and GSK should cost less than ten euros per vaccine dose. Since states are ready to share the financial risks of vaccine manufacturers, it is possible to keep prices "as low as possible," said the president of Sanofi in France, Olivier Bogillot, on Saturday to the broadcaster France Inter. Sanofi is working with the British company GSK on corona vaccine development.
The British-Swedish competitor AstraZeneca had announced a price of around 2.50 euros per dose for its potential vaccine. Bogillot explained the difference with the fact that AstraZeneca has largely outsourced production, while Sanofi only develops and produces the vaccine with its own researchers and at its own locations.
The US biotech company Moderna recently announced a price of 32 to 37 dollars per dose for the vaccine it had developed. The Chinese vaccine developer Sinoppharm wants to bring its corona funds for less than 1000 yuan on the market. Two cans should cost the equivalent of up to 121 euros.
France and Europe will receive the vaccine at the same time as the US and UK, according to Bogillot. Around 100 million cans are planned for the USA, 300 million for Europe and 60 million for the UK.
