A criminal who pretended to be Bruno Mars got $ 100,000. At first he won the heart of a more mature lady …

This story is hard to believe, but still true: In the USA, a brazen fraudster pretended to be the megastar Bruno Mars (35, "24K Magic") and stole 100,000 dollars (around 82,000 euros) from an unsuspecting woman. Now a certain Chinwendu Azuonwu is on trial in Harris County, Texas, for this reason. Among other things, "Fox News" reports this, citing available court files.

What happened? Together with an accomplice, Azuonwu is said to have targeted women in their 60s and pretended to be Bruno Mars in order to gain their trust. The later victim took a bite and initially developed a kind of chat friendship with the supposed superstar. This later led to a romance as the victim fell in love with the fake Bruno Mars. The perpetrator convinced the lady by sending her photos and text messages of the musician while the real Bruno Mars was on tour.

This feigned and difficult to understand romance led so far that the fake Bruno Mars asked the woman for money and she initially wrote a check for $ 10,000 for an alleged friend of Bruno Mars' band. Another $ 90,000 followed in the following weeks, until she finally saw through the crime and called the police.
