In an interview with Gala magazine on July 3, Bruno Masure revealed the huge salary he received when he presented the JT to TF1, then France 2.
After studying in Paris, Bruno Masure joined the group TF1. During his journalistic career, he had become the presenter of the JT du 20 hours during the week from 1984. A few years later, viewers were also able to find him for 1 p.m. and 8 p.m. on weekends. Wanting to return to public service, the journalist then decided to leave TF1 to join France 2 In the 90s.
In the columns of the magazine Galaon July 3, Bruno Masure confided in his life as a retiree by revealing the huge salary that he received when he was presenter of the JT on TF1 then on France 2. “I was lucky to be well paid most of my life”, he first confided, before specifying what he received as a sum every month. “At TF1, I first earned 60,000 francs (12,800 euros) then 80,000 francs (17,000 euros) per month. Then I wanted to return to public service, so I earned 60,000 again on France 2”, he revealed.

If these salaries seem pharaminous, Bruno Masure has, however, assured that“presenters today earn a lot more”. At any rate, “this environment [lui] not missing at all”, pointing out that he had it “left voluntarily”. He even seems to have distanced himself from his former colleagues. “I don’t want to see colleagues again to say that it was better before. When you stop, you really have to turn the page”. So Bruno Masure takes advantage. “I travel, I tweet, I take care of my cats… Everything is fine!“, he asserted. That’s why he doesn’t understand why some former journalists are still on the small screen. “I don’t find it normal to see someone like Jean-Pierre Elkabbach on the air at 85. This is a real problem! It has to be renewed. Same thing for Alain Duhamel: he writes a book a year, does not need money and to go on TV to live”, did he declare. According to him, they take “the place of a 30 year old”.
