Brussels waffles: the super easy Air Fryer recipe

When you suddenly feel a little hungry in the middle of the afternoon, there’s nothing like a good Brussels waffle to satisfy it. This emblematic little sweetness of the country is adored by young and old gourmands. If today, it is no longer necessary to travel to the other side of the border to taste them, it still requires a little equipment to do them yourself. On the other hand, if you have an Air Fryer, there is no need for a waffle iron, a simple waffle mold is enough to obtain excellent Brussels waffles. We owe this ingenious idea to the food influencer nicknamed Malviscooking on TikTok. The cook reinvented the traditional Belgian recipe and simplified it by opting for a Air Fryer cooking. Thus, your waffles will never again be over or under cooked, to the greatest pleasure of your palate!

The list of ingredients for 8 waffles:

  • 125 g soft butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon of dry yeast
  • 150 g of sugar
  • 250g of flour
  • 150 ml of milk
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

The steps of the recipe:

  1. Start by softening the butter. To do this, leave it at room temperature an hour before preparing your Brussels waffles or if you don’t have time, put it in the microwave for a few seconds.
  2. When it has the desired consistency, place it in a salad bowl. Then add the eggs, yeast, sugar, flour, milk and vanilla extract. Mix using a whisk until you obtain a smooth and homogeneous paste. Use a mixer if you have one.
  3. Let the dough rest for 30 minutes at room temperature.
  4. Then pour the batter into a waffle mold which you will place in your Air Fryer. Program to Air Fry mode at 210°C for 7 minutes. When there are 2 minutes of cooking time remaining, flip the waffles.

And there you have it, your waffles are ready, all you have to do is eat them plain with a little icing sugar or decorate them with delicious toppings. Fresh fruit with a little whipped cream always hits the spot for dessert or snack.

How do you reheat a Brussels waffle and keep it crispy?

Even the most epicurean among us can stall after two or three Brussels waffles with fresh fruit and melted chocolate. In this case, it is forbidden to throw them away! Cover them in foil to eat them late in the afternoon, or freeze them if you don’t plan to devour them in the next few hours. When the desire to taste them arises again, you will have to be careful how you go warm them up. In fact, if you want them to retain their crispness, we advise you to put them in the oven at 150°C for around ten minutes. The other solution is to pass them in the toaster. All you have to do is garnish them with fresh fruit or spread.
