BT Group: heavily sanctioned after its half-yearly

(CercleFinance.com) – BT Group drops 7% in London, after the publication by the telecom operator of its results for its first half of 2022-23, marked by a taxable profit down 18% to 0.8 billion pounds sterling, and adjusted EBITDA increased by 3% to 3.9 billion.

The British group explains that the inflation of its costs, in particular for energy, partly offset a growth of 1% in its income to 10.4 billion pounds, driven by its consumer activities and by Openreach.

‘Given the current inflationary environment, we need to take additional measures on our costs’, warns CEO Philip Jansen, who is therefore raising his savings target from 2.5 to 3 billion pounds by the end of the 2024-25 financial year.
