Bucket List: 10 Overrated Things You Really Don't Have to Experience

Do you feel the pressure of having to be at least 130 to tick off all the "Things you have to do before you die" lists? Hopefully not. Much more interesting is the list with all the overrated things that no one needs to experience.

1. Stand on the Great Wall of China

There's a wall there. That’s it. It may look totally impressive from space. If you stand on it, you stand on a wall. Not more. For free.

2. New Year's Eve in Berlin, New York and Sydney

Hunger, pee, cold, don't see anything, ban on alcohol, ban on firecrackers … any questions?

3. Outdoor sex

Outdoor sex – full of excitement. Literally. Above all the sand in various body orifices, the suddenly appearing night watchman or the wound care for the grazed back. And we really don't speak from experience, even if that sounds very plastic now. NOT REALLY!

4. In the evening, sit by the lake in a totally hyggeless way

Is great for the photos. They don't even hear the hum of the bastards stabbing you. And the lake is black anyway. With a little imagination, you can sit in the ALDI parking lot at night, because there are only half as many mosquitoes, and they are black too.

5. Take a gondola ride in Venice

150 euros to be driven through stinking broth for an hour? Venetians can be driven from bank to bank in gondolas for 50 cents. Wherever you see the sign "Traghetto", this service is also available for tourists, but nobody knows. Nobody sings "Sole mio", but you have the sublime feeling of having saved 149.50 euros. Because even two minutes of crossing are enough to make you realize that the gondola ride is overrated.

6. Watch cult series just because they are cult

Don't like "Game of Thrones"? Congratulation. Then don't look either. The world will really keep turning. Your horrified friends will understand that at some point.

7. Meet celebrities in person

Be silly with Ed Sheeran, spend a day with Meghan Markle, chat a few bars with Jennifer Aniston? Completely overrated, because what makes stars so special is usually our projection, our image of them. "In real life" they are all human. And many no more interesting than our neighbors.

8. Be rich

Money makes you happy, that has been proven. But only up to a certain limit. After that, the curve even goes down again. Really rich people don't feel any better than us. Liberating somehow.

9. Celebrate a fairytale wedding

The very thought of wanting a perfect wedding makes it all impossible. If love is real, it doesn't need a big stage (and certainly no white doves)

10. Hanging out with the treasure on the Empire State Building

Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan have shown it, Tom Kaulitz and Heidi have done it. Looks really great in photos and in films, it's really just crowded and touristy. There are really nicer places for togetherness. Heidi and Tom know that too.
