A strong symbol of the monarchy, Buckingham Palace has always been the principal residence of the British monarch. Built from 1703 to 1826, this colossal building requires very heavy maintenance to keep it afloat. This is why for several months, the palace has been under renovation for the modest sum of 430 million euros! We are able to wonder who this type of fee is aimed at, quite simply the British taxpayer.
While the work should be completed in 2027, King Charles III and his wife therefore still cannot integrate the residence. This would not seem to pose a problem for him, since the British monarch would have always abhorred this palace. According to him, it would not reflect today’s world and would cost far too much to maintain. He will therefore not be asked to stay for the moment in his house in Clarence House where he has lived for more than 20 years.
