Wasps can really spoil the evening in the garden or on the balcony. They are after our delicious cake or our soda and can hardly be put off. Here we reveal what helps and how you can build a wasp trap!

Building a wasp trap – that’s what you need

In the video we show you how to build a wasp trap. You only need a few ingredients and materials like one

  • Bottle,
  • Line,
  • Scissors,
  • some tape,
  • Orange juice,
  • and a little vinegar.

Orange juice is the attractant in the trap, alternatively they are also attracted by lemonade, beer, water with sugar, etc. Bees and bumblebees are deterred by the vinegar and do not fall into the trap!

Build a wasp trap? Better drive away!

With this trap you don’t kill wasps, you just lure them away from you to another place. Because consider: Wasps are protected species. Anyone who kills one could – at least in theory – be fined. And the Fines are sometimes relatively high – up to 5,000 euros are possible. They vary from state to state and are even higher, if it is a particularly protected species, then it can be up to 65,000 euros.

Allergy sufferers are the exception, as there may be danger to life. But everyone else should be aware that killing wasps is not allowed. Fortunately, there are suitable home remedies and ways to get rid of the animals differently. Here you can find out more about driving wasps away.
