Bürstner Copa 2024: New all-wheel drive camper for everyday life and adventure

MOBILITY

Bürstner presents the new Copa at the Caravan Salon Düsseldorf. The compact campervan is now available with all-wheel drive and a new base vehicle.

Bürstner calls Urban Camper what many people interested in motorhomes have on their wish list: a small motorhome in which you can travel, sleep and cook comfortably. Which, thanks to its short wheelbase and a length of well under six meters, can also serve as a second car. That doesn’t immediately break the 100,000 euro mark. The Bürstner Copa, which has been updated for the 2024 model year, should deliver all of this.

The biggest innovation in the series, which has been available since 2020 (and has since been sold via Tchibo), is also the most striking: the base vehicle is no longer the outdated Ford Transit Custom but the current Ford Tourneo Custom. The basic version is equipped with a 136 hp front-wheel drive and manual transmission, but the compact campervan can also be equipped with a 170 hp 4×4 drive and automatic transmission upon request.

If you are serious about the new product’s bad road capabilities, you can choose the option of a limited-slip differential on the front axle in the Bürstner configurator. The little Tourneo doesn’t become a real off-roader (overview of four-wheel motorhomes), but wet meadows on the campsite are less frightening.

There are detailed improvements in the interior. The core element here is a bench that can be used variably. It serves as an approved rear seat while driving, including two three-point belts, but can also be adjusted to twelve levels. In the maximum position it becomes a bed for two people, in the half position you can lean back comfortably and read a book. Two additional full-size sleeping spaces are located in the pop-up roof, which is attached at the front or rear depending on the size of the base vehicle.

The new Bürstner Copa is available in two different versions. As a C500, it is only 5.05 meters long and therefore fits into any parking space. You can also get the campervan in seven equipment variants and further individualize it. This includes the possibility of a hot water boiler so that you can take a warm shower or the installation of an outdoor awning.

Price and availability

Bürstner presented the new model for the first time in Düsseldorf, but it was still a pre-series model. No information was given about the price of the Copa 2024. We expect this at the latest during the CMT holiday trade fair in Stuttgart, which will take place from January 13th to 21st, 2024. The previous version was available at a price starting at 45,000 euros.

There were further exciting innovations from the camping and motorhome sector in Düsseldorf. A highlight of this year is a roof tent for the trailer hitch from Thule or the X-Cabin mini caravan with aluminum paneling.

Also just interesting…
