Butter without palm oil: 60 million consumers warn about this product that they consider “misleading”

Always vigilant about the products found on supermarket shelves, the 60 million consumer association has just pinned a brand for deception in a post on Instagram.

A margarine that features on its packaging “palm oil free” in fact indicates in the list of ingredients on the back of the product “palm oil”

“Beware of claims and check the composition of foods. In case of contradiction, do not buy!” advance the association on Instagram.

The product concerned is Primevère brand margarine. 60 million consumers took care to contact her for explanations. “Primevère explains to us that it is a printing error and guarantees that this margarine does not contain any” explain its journalists.

But despite this labeling error, the product is still on the shelves with the same contradictory mentions. “Enough to leave the consumer in confusion…” concludes the consumer association.

The production of palm oil is believed to be the cause of significant deforestation which threatens the disappearance of many species. In terms of health, it contains a high level of saturated fatty acids. Consumed in moderate quantities, it does not pose a problem according to nutritionists.
