Cac 40: Driven by Air Liquide’s solid results, the CAC 40 once again breaks all its records


(BFM Bourse) – The flagship Parisian index posts a new record at the close and during the session, supported by Air Liquide whose annual results have delighted the markets.

The solid Air Liquide woke up a Paris Stock Exchange which was then asleep on Monday, in the absence of American participants. This Tuesday, the CAC 40 resumed its upward trajectory, gaining 0.34% to 7,795.22 points at the close.

Sufficient progress in the CAC 40 to erase its previous and ephemeral record at the close of Friday evening at 7,768.55 points. The index also pushed back its record during the session, with a new high of 7804.54 points reached at the end of the session.

The index was well supported by the strong rise of Air Liquide, which gained 8.3%. “Air Liquide weighs 5.4% of the CAC 40. With an increase of 5.8% the impact is +0.28%” explained Jean-Louis Cussac, proprietary trader, on the air as an illustration. of BFM Bourse.

Air Liquide at the top

In the absence of major macroeconomic news, the agenda was mainly dominated by company publications and therefore, by that of Air Liquide. The flagship stock closed at a new all-time high after a quality publication.

The gas specialist has indeed revealed growth above expectations in the fourth quarter and raised its objective of increasing its margins by 2025.

Carrefour increased by 2.45% while the distributor will reveal its annual results after the market closes.

Excluding the CAC 40, Bic is up 8.7% driven by a clear jump in its profitability in the fourth quarter.

Forvia plunged 9.7% after having already lost 12.7% the day before following the publication of its annual results. If the accounts were relatively satisfactory, Deutsche Bank emphasizes that the stock suffered from questions from the market on the quality of cash generation, with questions about the improvement in working capital requirements.

In the United States, Walmart exceeded expectations and climbed 3.4% on Wall Street after a solid performance in the fourth quarter ended at the end of January.

On other markets, the euro gained 0.4% against the dollar to 1.0814 dollars. Oil is falling. The April contract on Brent from the North Sea lost 1.4% to 82.37 dollars per barrel while that of the same maturity on WTI listed in New York returned 1.7% to 77.11 dollars per barrel.
