CAC40: slight bullish breath for the start of the week


(CercleFinance.com) – The Paris Stock Exchange ends this first session of the week with a gain of 0.22%, at 8040 points, driven by Teleperformance (+3.2%), Edenred (+2.7%) or again URW (+2.2%).

The week that begins will be marked by the results season which will get to the heart of the matter in the United States, with in particular the results of tech titans like Microsoft, Meta Platforms and Alphabet, which could offer a second wind to the markets.

‘We believe the recent risk aversion environment and correction that has affected technology stocks represents a clear buying opportunity ahead of upcoming results,’ says Dan Ives, analyst at Wedbush Securities.

As a reminder, last week, Netflix published figures generally in line with expectations, which did not prevent the share price from dropping by 9% after its surge in recent months.

Beyond the results, investors will continue to monitor the evolution of inflation with the publication, on Friday, of the PCE index in the United States, the Fed’s preferred indicator of price dynamics.

Before that, the publication – Thursday – of the first figures of American gross domestic product (GDP) for the first quarter will be closely followed.

The consensus forecasts a slight slowdown in growth, to 2.9%, after the 3.4% recorded in the fourth quarter.

In the meantime, US rates are still flirting with the worst levels of the year even if the ’10 year’ is doing better than this morning with +1.5Pt at 4.6300% against 4.655% this midday), the ’30 year ‘ taking +2Pts to 4.73%.

A relaxation is taking shape in Europe with a Bund at 2.5300% (+2.5Pts) this morning and falling back below 2.500% and our OATs which reached 3.05% are relaxing by -2.5Pts towards 2.900%.

The easing of tensions between Israel and Iran is weighing down Gold (-2.2% to $2,336) and Silver (-4% to $27.5/Oz).
‘Brent’ oil also consolidates by -0.6% towards $86.9, WTI by -0.8% towards $81.5 on the NYMEX.
The Euro/Dollar parity changes little, the $ gains 0.1% (Euro at $1.0645).

In French company news, TotalEnergies announces the final investment decision for the Marsa LNG project, in which it holds an 80% stake in the Omani national company OQ (20%).

In this context, Technip Energies indicates that it has won a ‘substantial’ contract (i.e. between 500 and 1000 ME) for the development of this project.

Nexans indicates that it has signed an emergency preparedness and response contract with Equinor, a four-year agreement covering turnkey repair interventions for various cable systems with a total length of nearly 3,000 km.

Stmicroelectronics announced on Monday that it had extended its agreement to supply silicon carbide (SiC) wafers with SiCrystal, a subsidiary of the German industrial group Rohm.
